It has been a while since this blog has been updated by our Kudat-Banggi PCA Team. Our biggest thanks to all our readers for staying with us after a year’s break.

Blog silence does not imply that we were missing in action, readers!

We have been organizing and been involved in a series of activities throughout the year. For a start, here are some notable activities we have done up to May 2011!

  1. An important milestone for the gazettement of the proposed Tun Mustapha Park (TMP) was reached when the Interim Steering Committee for TMP was formalized through its first meeting on 1 February 2011
  2. WWF-Malaysia's Kudat-Banggi PCA Team and other TMP stakeholders attended a Climate Change Adaptation Training which redefined the way we look at climate adaptation and climate mitigation.
  3. The Green Lifestyle Campaign has been developed by the Banggi Youth Club (BYC), with supervision from WWF Kudat Team members. It will cover Kg Karakit, Kg Singgamata, Kg Perpaduan and Perumahan Felcra, and SMK Banggi (secondary school) and SK Karakit (primary school) in Pulau Banggi, within the proposed Tun Mustapha Park.
  4. As a continuous effort following a community workshop done for the inhabitants of Pulau Maliangin, HSBC and WWF-Malaysia supported Raleigh Borneo youths to boost facilities at the island in the form of eco-toilets and an eco-camp site, as a part of the plan for collaborative management of the proposed Tun Mustapha Park (TMP)
  5. A study visit to the BFAR’s Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) Station in Navotas City, Manila was organized by WWF-Malaysia from 22-23 March 2011. Representatives from Persatuan Pemilik Kapal Nelayan Kudat (PPKNK), Department of Fisheries Sabah, Sabah Parks and WWF-Malaysia visited the MCS Station and the National Fisheries Research and Development Centre.

Besides all the activities, we were also honored with visits from a few donors this year! Keep reading our blog to follow these stories!
